Join a small group in the West MI studio of artist Cristine Grimm for a fun and informative exploration of metal clay, glass fusing, mold making, and more. Certified in both PMC® and Art Clay™, Cristine has over 16 years of both local and national experience teaching students at varying levels of learning.
Beginners are welcome, and all the tools for class are provided. Basic silver clay classes are always available on-site and in satellite locations, with additional beginner through intermediate classes in silver clay, BRONZclay, COPPRclay, and Glass Fusing, enamel on silver, and more available in the Grand Haven studio.
Whether you want to fully explore the world of metal clay or just dabble a bit, this is the place to start. All metal clay work begins with the foundational techniques taught in these basic classes. Classes at SilverFire Studios will introduce you to the medium with a thorough introduction to rolling, texturing, cutting, drying, sanding, firing, polishing and applying a patina. We’ll discuss the types of clay available, tools required, how to choose or create textures, and more. When you're ready, we'll expand your skills in an array of courses designed to build confidence and increase technical skills while nurturing your creative spirit.
I'm a key care provider for several family members at extremely high risk for Covid-19. I've been advised by their doctors to limit my exposure for their safety and that of other patients with whom they come in contact. Since providing care is also impacting my schedule, I've decided to suspend classes for now.
When my time is less in demand, and the Covid risk is lowered, I will re-assess and resume classes in some form.
Thanks for understanding.

I love introducing beginners to metal clay and glass, and my West Michigan classes are designed to be fun, affordable, and stress free!
I teach the techniques necessary for you to try again at home, with or without a kiln. Most students prefer to return to the studio, building skills and confidence as they progress through my intro, technique and project classes.
There’s nothing like the energy and warmth in a circle of like-minded creatives who’ve discovered the joy of community, so I offer a guided studio experience open to anyone who’s completed an intro class. This is a great way to practice your skills while using all the tools available in the studio. It's also a great way to make personal jewelry and gifts.
One-on-one instruction is also available. Or, schedule a night out with friends!
All the materials and tools needed are provided as part of your class fee.
